Rees Levi Tucker

My wife and I became grandparents on September 16, 1997, when our daughter Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy! (7 lb 13 oz) His name is Rees Levi Tucker, derived from the names of two of his great-great-great grandparents.

Here are the first pictures:

The Welsh name Rees used to be spelled Rhys long ago. It rhymes with ``peace'' (not ``pease'')! English spelling and pronunciation are notoriously inconsistent, of course: Think of

caprice, coulisse, fleece, geese, increase, kris, Mies, niece, obese, peace, Rees, valise,

versus

Androcles, breeze, cheese, ease, frieze, he's, Kirghiz, lees, peas, reprise, seize, these.

(And Levi is pronounced like the jeans makers: LEE-vye.)
